Central Michigan University seeks full time Costume Shop Manager

Administers and oversees the costume production areas of University Theatre. Oversees student employees, production crews, shop labs, and budget (in consultation with Costume Designer). Provides instruction of undergraduate courses in appropriate costume and makeup areas as needed.

Qualifications:   
* MFA in Costuming or equivalent experience.
* Experience in pattern drafting, draping, cutting and alterations, painting, dyeing, dance costuming, and appropriate tailoring   
   skills.
* Ability to work some evening/weekend hours associated with productions, rehearsals and performances.
* Knowledge and experience to teach costume, stage make-up, or other theatre courses as needed.
* Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
* Preferred Qualifications   
* Experience in a university or professional costume shop.

Duties & Responsibilities:   
* Administers and oversees the costume production areas of University Theatre.
* Responsible, in consultation with Costume Designer, for production budget.
* Communicates with the Costume Designer to make decisions about appropriate materials and technology to be used and
   procedures to be followed to accomplish the various designs of the production.
* Schedules, trains, supervises, gives assignments to and evaluates student employees and production crews.
* Designs and implements laboratory settings in which students may learn production principles.
* Teaches courses in appropriate costume and make-up areas and other theatre courses as needed.
* Organizes, operates and provides inventory control for the costume areas of theatre production.
* Remains current with new materials and procedures by participating in various professional associations.
* Participates in production conferences with directors and designers to develop and plan the goals and concepts for each
   production.
* Works some evening/weekend hours associated with productions, rehearsals and performances.
* Works with the Director of University Theatre to develop a production calendar
* Completes tasks in accordance with the production calendar.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
