South Coast Repertory, a Tony award winning LORT theatre located in Southern California’s Orange County, is seeking a temporary Assistant Production Manager to support its busy Production team while the company searches for a new Associate PM.  SCR produces sixteen shows and multiple large scale events each season in our three theatre complex.  We are best known for our focus on developing and producing new works, but our seasons also include modern classics, musicals and theatre for young audiences. 

We are in the process of searching for a new Associate Production Manager, and while we do we're looking for someone to come in and help keep things moving.  The Assistant Production Manager will work with the Production Office Manager to support the Production Manager in supervising the company’s 30 person FT production staff and managing the design, rehearsal and production processes for all of SCR's shows and events.  This requires a creative collaborator with solid interpersonal, managerial, budgetary, planning and organizational skills.

Candidates should possess at least a working familiarity with most aspects of technical theatre production, be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and must have a minimum of a years’ professional experience or advanced training as a departmental supervisor or assistant supervisor, stage manager, or small/student theater PM.  A degree in theater production or management is helpful, but candidates with equivalent work experience or other training will be given full consideration.  Design experience is also a plus, but not required; a healthy sense of humor, commitment to the art form, and excitement about the type of work we do are essential. 

This full time, temporary position that is not eligible for benefits.  We are anticipating that the search would take at least until the end of February, but could conceivably continue through the end of our current season, in early June.  The person hired, if qualified, would be given full consideration for the Associate position if they are interested.
