For information about the "why" of our new internship posting rules, click here, or "About Internships" in the sidebar.

RULE CHANGE: Effective September 1, 2021 we will no longer accept job listings that have "provided housing" but that charges employees for such housing.

RULE CHANGE: Effective September 1, 2021: Equal housing. Housing provided by the employer to non-performer, behind-the-scenes employees shall be reasonably similar or equal to housing provided for performers, specifically in regards to working heat, air conditioning, hot and cold running water, bathrooms, beds, pest control, safety, and (if not on-site) transportation. (If the actors get air conditioning in their rooms, so do the crew.)

RULE CHANGE: Effective September 1, 2021, we will no longer allow "pay us to intern here" internship listings.

RULE CHANGE: Effective September 1, 2021, no "unpaid internship" job listings will be allowed on the site.

RULE CHANGE: Effective September 1, 2021, all internship job listings shall offer pay of no less than the applicable full (non-tipped) minimum hourly wage for the area that the internship is being performed in, or if a weekly or flat fee, equal to no less than 40 times the applicable full (non-tipped) minimum hourly wage for the area that the internship is being performed in for each week of employment. If a daily fee, equal to no less than 8 times the applicable full (non-tipped) minimum hourly wage for each day of employment.

RULE CHANGE: Effective September 1, 2021, all companies wishing to post internship listings must first submit information about their internship program to OffStageJobs.com for approval. Only approved companies will be allowed to post internship listings after September 1, 2021. The link to apply is available to logged-in users in the sidebar.

All rule changes listed above will apply to all listings live on the site September 1, affecting any active listings posted prior to September 1, 2021. Additional rule changes may also begin September 1, and will be announced as we finalize them.

Have you recently posted, or are you about to post, job listings? Please remember to include a semi-detailed summary of your theatre or company's COVID safety plan in your job listings. Potential employees want to know what steps you are taking to keep them, and by extension, their loved ones, safe.

By "semi-detailed," we mean not simply "we take our employees' safety very seriously & have a robust safety plan in place." We mean things like:
- Do you require face coverings?
- Is testing available?
- Have you expanded build, load-in, and load-out hours to allow for fewer people in the building at one time?
- Is pausing the production an option in the event of a positive test result?
Or other such plan elements.

Reminder: All job listings posted or reposted on or after May 1, 2018 are required to include the numeric pay rate, starting pay rate, or potential pay rate range of the job, or state that there is no pay. However, jobs that are covered by a union contract may direct the applicant to contact the respective union Local for the pay rate information. Please read Rule 8 in our Terms of Use, or our blog post for more information on this option.

TO BE CLEAR: "based on experience," "contact for details," or "competitive," will no longer be sufficient. Listings must include a numerical pay rate unless the job is a union job using the above option, or does not pay at all. Listings failing to include a pay rate, use the above option, or truthfully state "No Pay" will be removed.
